We are seeking a Commercial Manager who will serve as a company leader, overseeing day-to-day operations and focusing on the long-term interests of the business. Pursues new business opportunities and manages functions such as company associations, employee activities and evaluations, and other matters that relate to a company's operations.

Our client is a leading London based engineering company that specialises in providing innovative solutions for complex engineering challenges. With over 10 years of experience, their team of expert engineers have successfully completed numerous projects across various sectors, including Commercial fit-outs, Heritage Projects, Residential, Healthcare, Life Sciences and Data Centres.

Role

The primary focus of the role is commercial management oversight across our client’s portfolio major expansion construction projects. The position works closely with other internal project teams of varying levels of seniority. Duties to include:

  • Oversee the preparation of budgets including detailed cost modelling, benchmarking analysis and presentation of this to senior management

  • Monitor adherence against budget throughout the project lifespan including cost checks and reviews, value engineering and cost saving initiatives and evaluation of alternates

  • Provide guidance and assist with the orderly development of requests for proposal leading into procurement for design services agreements, owner furnished equipment and general contractor services agreements

  • Oversee and provide guidance on commercial change management and change evaluation efforts on all projects

  • Review analytics for project portfolio cash flow and earn value analysis

  • Monitor the financial close-out on all projects including settlement of all vendors

  • Lead risk management efforts including commercial audits, contingency analyses, risk identification and analyses and training

  • Review project cost reports and carry out regular reviews of these with senior management

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction, Business, Financial or related field

  • Must be detail orientated, with accurate input and proof reading skills

  • Work experience as a commercial manager or relevant role

  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills

  • Success in sales or marketing and the ability to manage relationships with clients and stakeholders
