Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal / Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team in London.

Company

Our client is the UK’s leading specialist in the management of diverse, complex and challenging portfolios of commercial real estate. Their services include property and portfolio management, sustainability, flex and asset transformation, asset management, consultancy and mobilisation, renewable energy services, and building consultancy.

Their MEP team has been recently established to support the wider Building Consultancy (BC) team with specialist MEP input and technical design capabilities. The MEP Team is currently in its infancy and is looking to grow to cater to the demands of the business as a whole.

Role

Join our clients MEP team to lead the development, implementation and management of the overall strategy and business plans for the MEP team within the London office including opportunities to drive growth and profit. Duties to include:

  • Lead the development of project plans and drive implementation which ensures delivery is managed effectively (commercially, technically, financially) and minimises risk to both our client and their diverse list of Clients.

  • Provide mentorship and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team.

  • Establish and implement a strategic approach to Client engagement and business development.

  • Build a plan to achieve operating and financial plan targets and develop the group to enable a consistent and agreed profit margin and cash flow. 

  • Look to continually enhance their technical edge and their innovation in all the projects they deliver including driving a sustainability focus into their work.

  • Develop innovative and sustainable mechanical solutions, incorporating net-zero carbon principles, embodied carbon analysis, and circular economy strategies.

  • Contribute to design work, survey work, and provide technical support to the wider business where needed.

  • Assist their sustainability team with technical knowledge and design input.

  • Seek out potential decarbonisation opportunities throughout their current portfolio.

Education & Qualifications

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or an alternative similar field (ideally to Master’s level).

  • IEng/CEng accreditation with the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), or an alternative equivalent body.

  • 15+ years of experience in mechanical design for building services.

  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD for the production of two-dimensional design drawings.

  • A working knowledge of software packages including Revit, Bluebeam.

  • A good understanding of BIM, SAP and SBEM.

  • A strong knowledge of UK building regulations and standards.
